About Me

Picture of me

I was born in France, but left Europe at the age of 5 to live in New Caledonia, a French territory situated in the South Pacific. Drawing has always been part of who I am but painting came later, in my teenage hood, after a three month stay in New Zealand.

Yet, it is several years after moving to Canada that I took formal instruction classes and learned about painting. I owe my formal instruction to Ian McAndrew who took the time to show me how to work with oil paint and convinced me that there is always room in the world for an another painter.

So far I have enjoyed working mainly with oil on canvas and developing new techniques.

My muses are artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Chagall, Gauguin and I get my inspiration from the numerous trips that I took over the years. Visually, I am inspired by textures of facades, a wide range of colors and movements in the natural world.

The collections of paintings featured in my two exhibitions were inspired by trips in Europe, Canada and Cuba. It is difficult not to be inspired by the vibrancy, sound and colors and I have tried to capture all of it in my paintings.
